Jhene Aiko Releases New Visual: The Pressure

With just a few short days until the release of her highly anticipated album, ‘Souled Out’, Jhene Aiko has release a visual to the single “The Pressure” off of the up coming album. The video depicts Aiko tanned,  and glowing in her blonde faux locs, navigating through the pressure’s of being an aspiring artist, mom and maintaining a relationship.

 

The simplistic, and abstract video plays directly to Aikos, airy, and sultry BoHo Chic style. There is never a question about what Jhene will deliver. Check out the video below and tell us what you think!

 

Mila J’s New Single “My Main” Review

The second single off her upcoming EP M.I.L.A. has officially been released properly titled, “My Main”. The track bumps with an ideal west coast feel and vibe all on it. Although this could have an epic summer ride out song its right in time for the end of the season. The beat itself knocks and echoes effortlessly. Mila herself delivers a feel good song where a woman can shout out her bestie without a problem. We all can relate to a song like this heading to a party with the crew and just having a good time.

After having the privilege to attend the private in-studio listening session this is the ideal song to serve up to the public. In a time where listeners are in a feel good mood wanting to just enjoy themselves she’s hit gold! Mila has made an awesome decision to releasing this track as the ultimate follow up record. If she’s looking for attention this is one of those instant grooves. Similar to how Tinashe hit it right on the nail with, “2 On” Mila’s having her instant moment. Although the vocal ability isn’t pressed she doesn’t hesitate in belting out notes here and there for all listener to not second guess her ability.

Radio play is evident for a song like this one without a doubt. She’s added Ty Dolla $ign to the song proving she knows the recipe for success. After the exposure of “Smoke, Drink, Break Up” looks like this songbird if on to something! In no time this will be climbing the charts. Cheers to the momentum of her approaching EP set for release September 30, 2014.

In a time where music has lacked creativity, it’s always refreshing to come across a gem that is pure and authentic to the craft. This rising artist isn’t only stunning, but is courageous enough to carve her own lane under the persona that is Em-Jai. Her drive and respect for music has already landed the 24-year-old exposure on Disney Channel’s Shake It Up. Her song was then selected as the first single for the entitled soundtrack, I Love Dance.

 

This Chicago native found her passion at the ripe age of 9 watching a Bow Wow video and claiming her dreams to her mother. After graduating from Illinois State University, Miranda Johnson embraced her purpose and began chasing her dreams. She credits much thought, dedication, and faith has given her the courage to bring everything thus far into fruition.

 

Artistically Em-Jai has successful blended and mashed together Pop, R&B, and Hip Hop in a way that’s been attempted, but not so effectively achieved. She proves that taking a risk is well needed in pursuing one’s passion. Self titled as “The Dope Girl Next Door” it comes to no surprise that her style matches her words. Her image is crafted in a fun and yet fashionable strategy to creatively display where girl meets boy. Em-Jai is the kind of girl that any guy would want to hang with and every girl would want to shop with.

 

Her latest musical effort can be heard on the EP Love Etc.etra where you’ll find fun dance tracks like, It Can Wait, and heart felt songs like, Boy With The Golden Heart. Her honesty within this EP is exciting to come across from a young 20 something woman. She proves that her journey has just begun as a new artist and growth awaits her in the horizon. Without a doubt listeners can find it all relatable and most of all real. Em-Jai embodies confidence, self-assurance, and an amazing attitude that surely inspires this and later generations to follow.

 

Currently, this songstress can be found writing songs for herself and other artist. She discussed following the steps of artist such as Ne-Yo and Keri Hilson who got their big breaks from songwriting. She aims to stay authentic to the craft and while still paving her own avenue. Without a doubt its evident that Em-Jai has the tools to carve her name in entertainment history.
