Written by. Chalise Macklin

Tiffany and Co is known for providing men with that special, little blue box and bringing joy to many women’s lives. But their signature jewelry and legacy is in jeopardy. The company is experiencing falling profits and stock prices, according to a business report from Business of Fashion. The jeweler is on a mission to turn things around and has enlisted some A-list celebrities to help do so.

Former American Vogue creative director, Grace Coddington, joined the jewelry house as a creative partner to help with rebranding. Coddington has signed teen star Elle Fanning and Lupita Nyong’o on to represent the timeless brand along with models Natalie Westling and Christy Turlington. A historic moment for the company because this marks the first time celebrities have starred in a campaign. Each lady showcases a piece of the brand’s new “Tiffany T” collection. Nyong’o posted a preview of her ad, which will be released nationwide in September.

The reshaped concept is titled “Legendary Style.” Upcoming campaigns will feature women in the studio instead of their iconic ads that are black and white and feature women wearing their jewelry on New York streets. A re-launch of the company’s affordable “Love” collection by designer Reed Krakoff with the slogan “#lovenotlike” will also be released soon.

Tiffany and Co are hoping to attract a younger buyer, particularly millennials. The company also intends to introduce it to new consumers and get skeptics to reconsider.

A Demi Grace Exclusive: Face of Sephora Releases New Track “Afraid”

Written by. Chalise Macklin

It is not every day that an up-and-coming artist becomes the face of a cosmetic product and sings the jingle in a well-known hair product commercial. Demi Grace’s entertainment career is off to a good start with credible accolades behind her name.

Grace’s infectious voice can be heard in the current Dark and Lovely commercials and she is one of the faces of Sephora’s new “Makeup Forever” lipstick line.

“I’m so excited. It is a funny story how I got the job. My agent sent me on an audition, but I did not get it. Later, I got a call back for a voice over audition. I told them I could sing and recorded a track during the audition. They loved it and offered me the job. It was really accidental,” said Grace.

Grace has been singing all her life, but she didn’t start releasing music professionally until 2012.

“I always wanted to be a professional singer. I had a talk with God and asked him what I needed to do to get my start and walk through the right door. I started building my social media following and releasing music independently,” Demi Grace said.

Gone are the days that an artist has to be signed to a major label. The music industry is embracing independent artist like Demi Grace. She contributes her current success to her willingness to interact with fans on social media. The effort has caused fans to become more familiar with her sound which she calls Afro-Dance or Afro-EDM infused with a little bit of Pop.

“My sound is influenced by Hip Hop, Nigerian and Afro beat music, and Reggae,” said Demi Grace. “I am extremely diverse. I tapped into many genres and I am a singer-songwriter.”

Her musical style is also a reflection of her heritage. She is of Nigerian descent, was born in London, raised in California, lived in Atlanta and currently a New Yorker. Her time in New York has influenced her new single “Afraid.”

“I moved to New York and met a guy who was nothing like anyone I met before. The relationship was party-driven, but when we were by ourselves it was hard to get him to open up. It was just a mess, hurtful and I expressed that in the song,” Grace said.

She describes the single as an emotional record that you must be ready for.

“When you go out and hear a song like ‘Afraid’ and listen to the lyrics you have to be ready to feel and emotionally connect,” said Demi Grace.

Demi Grace distinct sound is not the only thing gaining attention, her beauty is as well. Her ebony complexion and tall, slender physique serves as an example to young girls that beauty is diverse and unique.

DemiGrace2 (1)I want girls to be okay with what God gave them and work it. I look up to Missy Elliott and Rhianna and how they wear their body makes it (their body) sexy,” said Grace.

The future is bright for Demi Grace. The Sephora campaign she is a part of debuts in August, her upcoming EP is tentatively set for release in September, and she just finished working on a mix with an Atlanta producer which include heavy hitters such as: T-Pain, Trina, Flo Rida and TI.

7-Makeup-Donts1

Ladies, we all want a flawless, beat face right. We see, celebs and beauty gurus slaying their faces to the point where it looks so flawless and natural. There are so many rules to makeup as well. Makeup is an art people, and if you don’t have the patience then don’t wear it. If do not want to look crazy you have to take the time out to practice, at least the basics. So hear some makeup DONTS.

  1. YOUR FOUNDATION SHOULD NOT HAVE LINES! Blending, major key. If I’m able to see where you stop blending your foundation, you either do not have the right tools or you didn’t take the time to blend. Blend the foundation down to your neck.
  2. Your foundation should match. Some people faces are lighter or darker than their necks and vice versa. So you want to get a color that is blendable .
  3. Your eyebrows should not be black! I hate when I see people with black eyebrows. Your eyebrow pencil should be dark brown. Stop using your eye liner pencil as your eyebrow pencil. That’s not cute.
  4. Pick a nude lipstick that goes with your skin tone. You do not want to look like you just finished eating powdered sugar donuts. There are so many different shades of nudes: pink nudes, brown nudes, cool tone nudes and more. Also if you want a really nude lip wear a brown lip liner a blend it in.
  5. DO NOT SLEEP IN YOUR MAKEUP. That’s nasty! Sleeping in makeup causes your pores to clog and bacteria. Taking your makeup off before you go to sleep is equivalent to brushing your teeth every day.

Summer 16 Beauty Essentials

Summer is finally here and as we all know it’s so hot, especially if you live in the south. The 4th of July is upon us and we are invited to cookouts and pool parties and if you’re like me I want my face beat. That can be difficult with the sweat because we sweat and our makeup starts to melt, that’s not cute. So here are some beauty essentials and tips to help you slay without melting.

First, instead of applying foundation, use BB cream. BB Creams are tinted moisturizers for hydrating and evening out skin tones. It is also more lightweight than foundation, and contains antioxidants, anti-ageing, and sunscreen. It is best to use a BB cream with SPF in it. You can still use BB cream with concealer for highlighting, contouring, and eyeshadow. Yes, you can do a full face with BB cream, allow it to take the place for foundation, so your face won’t feel so heavy.

Second, you need sunscreen. It is so important to use this because it protects you from burning. The higher the SPF the longer it last, so the higher the better. Sunscreen does not last all day so you to reapply especially if you will be around water.

Next is protective hair styles. If you do not wear weave, then these tip will be great for you. To all of my natural sisters some cute protective styles are glamour cornrow braids, a hollow braid, or bantu knots.
