Can you believe it’s been five years since the last Shrek movie came out? I know I didn’t realize it had been that long. And let’s be honest, folks, Puss in Boots was good but it definitely didn’t feed my Shrek craving.
According to a report by Deadline, DreamWorks Animation has been purchased by Comcast, and they plan to “breath new life” into the franchise. Although there are no concrete plans for what that will look like, it’s probably safe to say we’ll be getting a fifth movie, especially considering Comcast wants to crank out four animated movies a year under this new deal.
If this all winds up being true, fifteen years after the first Shrek hit theaters, we’ll hopefully be getting more Shrek and Fiona and all their little ogre babies — plus, more Uncle Donkey and Uncle Puss in Boots. Hmm, I wonder if Justin Timberlake would be interested in coming back to reprise his role as Fiona’s cousin Artie Pendragon.
Yes Comcast! Make a fifth Shrek movie happen. We’ve all been dying to see it.
