Navigating through the teen years is challenging, especially when you do so in the spotlight. There are a lot of things that come along such as: sex and drugs that may entice teens to do things that can have an adverse effect on their lives. Not succumbing to peer pressure is hard to do particularly during adolescence.
Jamie Lynn Spears was an adorable Nickelodeon child star (Zoey 101) with a promising career ahead of her, but at the age of 16 she found out she was pregnant in 2007.
After the news, she pretty much vanished from the public eye. She described the pregnancy as a shock. But she is returning to the spot light in a highly anticipated documentary that will air on TLC. The special titled, Jamie Lynn Spears: When the Lights Go Out, will talk about her journey as a teen mom, the backlash she received from the media, her country music career, and why she walked away from the limelight.
Jamie Lynn is now 25 and wants people to see her as more than Brittany’s little sister, a child star, and a teen mom. She released a country album in 2014 called Journey and she is now married. She has also written songs for other artists including Jana Kramer’s hit single “I Got the Boy.
The documentary will air June 26 and will explore the aftermath of her controversial past. Spears allowing the world into her private life may be the cathartic journey she needs to be comfortable being back in the spotlight and may help some teens avoid making some decisions in their own lives that could lead them down the wrong path.
