Some of our favorite Hollywood stars will be teaming up for what could possibly be known as Marvel’s “blackest” comic ever. Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong’o and more recently Michael B. Jordan, will all join forces for the first time ever on screen to recreate the popular comic, “Black Panther”.
After the box office success of “Captain America: Civil War” grossing over $700 million, Marvel has decided to reintroduce Boseman’s character in a film of his own. Boseman will act as T’Challa, the movies main character, while Nyong’o is set to play his love interest. It is still unclear what role Michael B. Jordan will take on but according to The Hollywood Reporter, there are talks of him being casted as a villain.
Each of these actors have left their mark on the silver screen by lending their talents to groundbreaking films throughout their career. Boseman shocked the world with his acting ability as Jackie Robinson in the movie“42”, while Lupita Nyong’o captured our hearts in her pivotal Oscar-winning performance in “12 Years a Slave”. Most recently, Michael B. Jordan solidified his spot as a Hollywood heavy-hitter with a stunning performance in the movie “Creed”.
Jordan will be teaming up again with award-winning ‘Creed’ director, Ryan Coogler, who will also create the script as well. This wouldn’t be the first or second time the two have worked together as Coogler also director the Indie sensation, ‘Fruitvale Station’.
History is definitely being made with this film as it will be the first Marvel movie to be written, directed and star majority lead cast members of color. As of now, the film is scheduled to begin production in early 2017 with a release date of February 2018. There is no word on who else may be joining the star-studded cast but we can’t wait to see what else this movie has in store.
