19 year old model and reality tv star, Kendall Jenner has become frustrated with her reliance on technology and social media, and revealed she thinks it’s “sad” how much young people use it. She said: “I think social media has taken over for our generation. It’s a big part of our lives and it’s kind of sad.
“I hate it sometimes, like, I literally want to throw my phone so I can’t look at it. It’s all a made-up world if you think about it. Social media, everything, this interview, everything. It’s not real. It’s pretty crazy.”
The ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians‘ star said the issue was particularly brought to her attention during a recent holiday to Thailand when she had a short-term self-imposed mobile phone ban, unlike her 17-year-old sister Kylie.
She explained to The Sunday Times’ Style magazine: “We had a two-hour drive from the airport to where we were staying, and I’d left my phone in my bag, so I didn’t touch it the whole way. I looked out the window at everything, and I saw people who live in huts and have dogs that were, like, withering away. And all their food, meat, was hanging in front of their house. It was very sad. Then we pulled up to this amazing house we were staying at, and I looked over and Kylie was on her phone the whole time and didn’t see one thing that I saw.”
Kendall, who has 10.8 million Twitter followers and 27.3 million Instagram fans – added she found the experience, “super eye-opening, because you’re seeing what’s happening, and truly, truly real, right in front of you.”
I wonder if seeing the sights in Thailand will make Kendall a philanthropist, starting some sort of project to help those less fortunate.
